Brett Lathrup , CFP®, CCFC

Financial Advisor

Brett has been in the financial services industry since 2015. He is a CFP® professional and also earned his Certified College Financial Consultant (CCFC) designation. Prior to becoming a financial planner, Brett worked with contractors and architects in the commercial building industry. Spending most of his days looking at building plans and sifting through construction documents taught him how to hyper-focus on the details, no matter how small.

As a Financial Advisor, Brett focuses on clients’ financial details and enjoys advising clients on goals such as buying their first home, starting a family, navigating work benefits, and planning for their kids’ education.

When he is not helping clients, you can find Brett hacking away on the golf course or acting as pit boss tending one of his many charcoal grills and smokers. His favorite days of the year are college football Saturdays.

What’s your favorite quote?

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” In other words, be adventurous, take risks, and pursue your dreams.

Can you play any instruments?

I play drums and guitar, and I recently started learning piano.

Are you from San Diego? If not, what brought you here?

I’m a southern gentleman, originally from Atlanta. I recently completed a 9-year stint in Western Washington. I’ll always be a Georgia boy at heart, but with its sunshine and laid-back vibes, San Diego is where I belong.
